When May month comes to Warsaw, so does the nice weather. The days which used to be so cold and frigid in February are now perfect for a stroll down to a café on Nowy Swiat, where one can sit and look at people passing by for hours as the sunrays caresses ones face. One large frappuccino is far from enough on a nice day in May.

Unfortunately it is not only the nice weather that comes this time of year. May month is also a busy period for all the students as their final exams are coming up. Especially students of medicine, they suffer extra at this time of year. First and second year in medschool are supposed to be the most difficult years in a doctors life. If that is true or not a young medicinestudent will have to wait and see for himself, but there is no doubt that it is a task not to be taken lightly upon.
While students studying international relations, language and geography are relaxing at flamboyant cafés on Nowy Swiat, the medschool students are spending their time in the modern library at ul. Dobra. But why would anyone choose to sit inside on beautiful days and study when others are living it up on Nowy Swiat (with their new sunglasses with big golden letters on the side)?
Because even thought the world is as materialistic as it is, and even though many choose to live life in the fast lane, there are still people who believe in quality and don’t mind the work load. Please do not misunderstand me, I love fancy sunglasses and frappuccinos but we must not forget our priorities. Quality is number one, and lets never forget that.

I will join the crowd on Nowy Swiat, in five years and a month’s time.

The Polish Ivy Leagues film makers society, '9 millimeter', has recently undertaken the production of the medical thriller 'The Phantom of Banacha hospital' (draft title).
The story is a combination of genius from the Swedish playwrite Jakob Eriksson and Polish producer Marcin Czarniecki (protege of Roman Polanski), and it epitomizes the tumultuous thought process behind organ donation.
A trailer for the film will be available on the website shortly.

a few thoughts about today's holiday

Reminiscing on a discussion which was undertaken by myself and my fellow board-club member about the holiday that a blatant few celebrate on this day in Poland, we came to the conclusion that it is not worth to join the hundreds of people that will throw eggs and tomatos at the poor communists. We believe that this will not solve any problems, and it will definitely not enlighten the young communistos. Let's just hope that the communists in Poland right now are between the age 14 and 19 and they are doing it to rebel against their parents. We at PIL advocate the cliche aphorism: The pen is mightier than the sword. With a board committee vote, this saying was made our organizations official one. All the members only use their swords suring fencing practice. The second vote with an overwhelming vote for "yey" of 8 to 7 decided to make a rival jog at Lazienki Park toaday at 12. Join us, you really need it!

Dinner at the Turkish Embassy, Warsaw, Poland

Last Thursday, the Warsaw Chapter of the Polish Ivy League had an informal dinner at the residence of His Excellency Candan Azer. After getting served refreshments, we were able to experience some of the marvelous culinary deliights of the Republic of Turkey. Our photographer was with us, and attached is a picture of our head of the fashion department, Bernadette Lenartowicz, getting fed cake by our Vice President, Johan Jacob Michael Eriksson III.

While our committee member is writing up the interview, we could not stop informing you and at the same time invite you for an upcoming event this weekend. All members of the PIL are welcome for a little bit of ballroom dancing in the Lion's Den Clubhouse on. Ul. Warecka. Fun and prizes are waiting for all. Especially the dogs. We will have face painting for them, so that all of our dogs will finally change appearance for at least a moment. Consider it a part of your spiring cleaning schedule to show up!

Welcome!

In case you fail to be one of those well informed people, the Polish Ivy League is a newly formed organization of the top Polish Schools. We are well affiliated with other Ivy League schools, and we are definitely the eastern-most division of this prestiguous academic organization up to date. We are based in Warsaw. Below is our full address:

Please do not confuse us with the numerous same-named organizations which tend to only throw large banquets with tremendous amounts of food. We try to be academic when it is only possible.

for hexample, today one of our co-founders interviewed a well known professor of histology, Prof. Krzysztof Wlodarski (please do not confuse with his less famous son, he doesnt deserve as much respect in our eyes, he likes to rush through his lectures, not at all admirable)
